KEYBOARDS
Tobi Mena was born in the Ecuadorian Andes, studied classical music until he discovered that rock music was possible for piano, fact that made him leave Bach behind to form a band in his native Quito.
He began his undergraduate studies in Physics, trying to understand the universe but after crushing against the 3rd law of thermodynamics, decided to change paths and pursue a career in arts completing a major in Contemporary Music.
Synth enthusiast and music theory researcher, his artistic and creative inquiries led him to co-found Turbina Helicoidal experimental lab, focusing on transdisciplinary arts and new media.
He holds a MA in Digital Audiovisual Postproduction. Versatile and resourceful, he has played various styles of music, ranging from synth punk to techno-cumbia and gnawa jazz.
Tobi recently moved to the US with his lifelong partner in crime/creative associate/love interest and their incredibly well behaved schnauzer mini, Borges.
Tobi then answered a Craigslist ad and the rest is history…
