KEYBOARDS
Blues piano and the jazz-blues organ style of R & B influence Alec’s rock sound. He started piano lessons at age 8 — because there was a piano in the living room. Four years later he quit playing to pursue his dream of becoming a pro basketball player. By age sixteen, having grown little and lacking sufficient talent to play at even the high school level, he relinquished his basketball dreams, purchased a used Farfisa mini-compact organ and joined a high school band, called, yes, The Ultraviolet Frozen Toes. Living variously in DC, New York and Budapest he played for his personal enjoyment the next few decades.
Since moving back to the DC area in the early 2000’s he’s played in several blues, classic rock and rock/funk bands. Inspirations include Jon Lord, Billy Preston, Bill Payne, Chuck Leavell and almost any musician from New Orleans, especially Professor Longhair and Dr. John.
His Nord Stage is the work horse of his rig, adding his Korg and portable Hammond as needed.
